Pendolino Trains
The seven-carriage Pendolino 680 train can use all three traction charging systems used by Czech Railways, German Rail DB, and Austrian Railway ÖBB. Czech Railways operates it in international transport on the tracks connecting the Czech Republic with Austria and Slovakia, and in domestic transport between Prague and Ostrava. The tilt system together with active side suspension centres the coach body against the undercarriage. This all ensures a high level of ride comfort for passengers into curves at high speeds, which is what the Pendolino is famous for. In addition, they are equipped with Alstom’s ATLAS train management, which enables this newest product in a long line of Pendolino models to comply fully with European norms on interoperability in the areas of the ERTMS (the European Rail Traffic Management System).
Each of the seven trains is made up of four drive cars and three attached carriages. The coach body is made of aluminium profiles. The Pendolino offers a total of 333 seats for passengers (including 2 places for wheelchairs) with a big, comfortable bar in the bistro.
