Martina Sáblíková Gave Autographs aboard the Pendolino
ČD passengers who travelled on 31 August 2007 on the SuperCity Smetana train from Prague to Vienna were in for a surprise on board. Top Czech speed-skater Martina Sáblíková, who rode the Pendolino to a press conference in Brno, came to stamp their tickets in person.
“I must say that I was really surprised by the Pendolino. When I stood in the engine driver’s cabin and we rode into curves at 160 km/h, the train just tilted slightly. You didn’t notice the speed inside at all,” commented Martina Sáblíková on her experience riding the Pendolino. “The passengers were great. I’m happy that so many people support me,” she added.
Sports fans and others had a unique opportunity to chat informally with the athlete who is the most successful Czech female speed-skater of all time, the world and European champion, winner of the World Cup and holder of several world junior and senior records.
In Brno Main Station after the journey, there was a press conference on the occasion of the Czech in-line championships in Brno. Martina Sáblíková was accompanied on her journey to the Moravian capital by her trainer, Petr Novák, and members of her training group.
