Cannoneer Koller Celebrated a Success

Czech football’s best striker, Jan Koller, set out for Olomouc on the Pendolino with his wife. On the cold Sunday afternoon of 11 November 2007, when many roads and rail lines were impassable due to an unexpected snowfall, the SuperCity train carrying the football star arrived successfully in the Haná capital.
The celebrated footballer’s destination was an autograph session in the Olomouc ČD Lounge, which attracted ample participation on the part of the public. Jan Koller wasn’t idle even during the trip, however. In the bistro carriage, passengers had an opportunity to personally meet the record-holder in goals in the national uniform. There was even an inspection of travel documents in one of the carriages, and Czech fans along with German football enthusiasts excitedly presented their travel documents.
The Pendolino journey was very appealing to the congenial striker, but that’s no surprise. As Jan Koller remembers, the last time he travelled on a Czech train was 14 years ago during his military service, and since then much has changed on the Czech railway.
