Jablonec Footballers Set Out for Vienna on the Pendolino

On 16 August 2007, Jablonec footballers clashed with Vienna’s Austria Wien at Franz Horr Stadium in Vienna in a battle to advance to the first round of the UEFA Cup. For the trip to the Austrian capital, they selected ČD’s SC Pendolino connection departing from Praha-Holešovice. For the second year now, ČD is a partner of the Jablonec team.
Some 100 footballers and members of their delegation occupied the last two carriages of the SC Johan Gregor Mendel. The train arrived in the Austrian capital in 4 hours 2 minutes. “The boys are excited; there’s more space here than an airplane,” reflected the vice-chairman of the club’s board, Miroslav Pelta, on his first impressions travelling on the Pendolino.
“Our business partners are satisfied too, along with everyone else travelling with us to Vienna. I think they’ll be happy to make use of the comfortable journey on the Pendolino in the future as well.”
