Czech Olympian Aleš Valenta Travelled on the Pendolino
Another exceptional personality whom passengers could meet on the Pendolino was acrobatic skier and Olympic gold medallist Aleš Valenta. Sports fans had the opportunity to get this famous athlete’s autograph on 7 August 2006 right on board the SC 507 connection which Aleš Valenta took from Praha-Holešovic to Olomouc.
The journey on the SC 507 connection followed a press conference at Prague’s Holešovice Station on the occasion of organising the now traditional summer world series in acrobatic skiing in Štíty. This year, ČD became a general partner of the event for the first time, and this is why the entire event, which took place on 12 August, now bore the name SC PENDOLINO FREESTYLE. The press conference, at which the concept for cooperation between ČD and Sport Bohemia – “Sport by Train” – was introduced, was also attended by other Olympic medallists, such as Dmitri Dashinski from Belarus and Evelyne Leu from Switzerland.
After the press conference, Aleš Valenta and his sports competitors took advantage of the comfort of the SC 507 Pendolino connection to travel to Olomouc, from where they continued on to Štíty for the SC PENDOLINO FREESTYLE competition. During the journey on board the Pendolino there was an autograph session where Aleš Valenta happily signed autographs for everyone interested.
