New Refreshments on SC Pendolino Connections

From January 2011, ČD has changed the bonus refreshments that 1st class passengers receive free of charge on SuperCity Pendolino trains. The offering of baguettes, sandwiches, salads and desserts will now change each week and customers will also be able to select food suitable for diabetics. Our goal is to improve the quality of gastronomy services and to make travel on SC Pendolino connections more attractive. This is why there has also been a change in bistro carriages, where food and hot beverages are now served on porcelain as in classic dining carriages.
The supplier for the bonus refreshments is the company BAPA s.r.o., which won a standard selection process. In-seat and on-board service will continue to be provided by the company JLV, a.s. Despite the fact that the offerings are being expanded and improved, ČD will pay less for bonus refreshments than last year. The new price, resulting from competitive bidding, is c. CZK 2.6 million lower. In 1st class on SC Pendolino trains, passengers will also receive the daily press free of charge, in addition to free refreshments.

SuperCity Pendolino connections are presently ČD’s most reliable and fastest trains connecting the capital with Moravia. The journey from Prague to Ostrava-Svinov in the new service planning diagram takes 2 hours 56 minutes; connections from Prague to Brno arrive in just 2 hours 23 minutes. Starting last year in June, the Friday SC Pendolino Sprinter connection has been connecting Prague and Třinec, covering the distance in 3 hours 55 minutes.
